37 Tamil Nadu, 32 Bengal Tourists Missing After Devastating Nepal Flash Flood

Kathmandu: More than 130 Indians are reported missing after the severe flash flood in Nepal on Tuesday. These include many devotees who went on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. People are stranded at different places and due to communication system being badly affected, many people are unable to be contacted.

It has been told that tourists from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have been most affected. Of the 57 tourists from Tamil Nadu, 37 have not been found so far, while 32 people from West Bengal are also reported missing.

How many Indians went on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

According to the information revealed, at least 59 Indians had gone on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Due to communication system being disrupted, it is becoming difficult to gather correct information about these people. Many passengers are stranded at different places.

Out of 57 tourists who went to Nepal from Tamil Nadu, 37 have not been traceable till now. However, 20 people have been contacted. All of them were going towards a temple in the Himalayas.

Isha Foundation of Coimbatore said that 77 of its members were present at an immigration center and their trace could not be found. However, according to the organisation, 495 people have returned safely. Nepal government also informed that the entire staff of that immigration office is out of contact.

An alert has also been issued in Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts of the border.

There are reports of 7 tourists from Maharashtra also stranded in Nepal. It is a matter of relief that 4 people from Mumbai and Pune have been contacted and they are safe. Efforts are on to contact the remaining 3 people. In this regard, the state government has set up a 24-hour control room in the ministry so that the families of the stranded people continue to get up-to-the-minute information.

What information has been received regarding tourists from Kerala?

The group of 36 tourists from Kerala is said to be safe and away from the affected areas. The state government has started a helpdesk through social media. Apart from this, the governments of Sikkim, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh have also issued helpline numbers to help their citizens.
